The actual symbol for crisis in Chinese means both danger and opportunity. I think that this is because a crisis always puts us to the test and depending on how we react to it, has potential to deepen our life experience. I think that Helen Keller summed it up best when she said, "The marvellous richness of human experience would lose something of rewarding joy if there were not limitations to overcome. The hilltop hour would not be so wonderful if there were no dark valleys to traverse."

I have found that in the midst of a crisis when I can't change things, that changing my perspective has been the key in helping me muddle through some how, and ultimately make me a wiser and more compassionate person.
