To me success is escaping from a worried and doubtful self of the past and becoming a voice for people who are too afraid or unable to speak, and a cry for the hearts that break in silence.

I have experienced genuine growth in relating to clients over time. I think the key to encouraging such growth is unconditional acceptance, keeping expectations to a minimum and not letting temporary setbacks defeat us. It is being willing to express our weaknesses or vulnerabilities from time to time and openly sharing them. It is finally realizing that often our clients have as much to offer us in the peer relationship as we do them, and coming to see that empowerment and encouragement go both ways in a healthy relationship.
