If I could
reach inside your mind.
Where fortressed walls stand tall and strong.
I'd reach beyond the guarded door,
and search the fears that burn till dawn.
If I could
touch the deepest part,
where
love is born and free shall reign,
I'd reach beyond the empty heart,
and teach you how to live again.
I'd lead
you to life's fountain,
we'd take the time to drink.
No longer busy building castles.
We'd have some time to think.
And maybe
in the quiet of that moment that we'd share,
we would hear the message God is sending
to every child with inclined ear.
"Oh, little
helpless mortal,
why doth thou strive in vain?
For all your precious castles,
are like drops of falling rain.
"They
too as things before them,
shall crumble and decay.
They cannot house your body,
as I, your spirit, do this day."
Then we'd
worry less where life is leading
and where time goes when it's gone.
We'd share the gift of heaven's light.
We'd share a special song.
